The perfect transformation of Baita Airport welcomes guests with a brand new look. The transition period upgrade and renovation project of Hohhot Baita Airport, undertaken by Zhongnan Steel Structure, is underway
The steel structure project has been successfully completed and passed the final acceptance inspection
On February 5th, the T2 terminal steel structure project of the Hohhot Baita Airport transition period upgrade and renovation project undertaken by Zhongnan Steel Structure passed the completion acceptance smoothly. Hohhot Baita Airport has been in operation for 62 years since its completion and opening on October 1, 1958. It is the largest aviation hub in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and is known as the "Wings of Qingcheng". In 2019, the annual passenger throughput of Baita Airport reached 13.1518 million, and the cargo and mail throughput reached 46100 tons, which was five times the original design throughput. The airport upgrade and renovation project was born in response to this trend.
The airport renovation project began on June 3, 2020, with the pre embedding of steel column anchor bolts. Zhongnan Steel Structure was responsible for the construction of the steel structure and metal roof of the international terminal, T2 terminal, and VIP building corridor, with a total construction area of approximately 31500 square meters. The international terminal is a steel frame+steel truss structure with a construction area of 8500 square meters, T2 terminal is a frame structure+steel structure with a construction area of 19950 square meters, and the VIP building corridor is a reinforced concrete frame shear structure with a construction area of 2951.9 square meters. The total steel consumption of the project is about 4100 tons, and the area of the special-shaped metal roof is about 20000 square meters. The project was constructed without suspension of flights. With the concerted efforts of the project management team and all operators, the main structure was capped on July 3, and the metal roof was capped on August 15. The international terminal passed the completion acceptance on November 23, 2020, and the T2 terminal passed the completion acceptance on February 5, 2021. At this point, the airport renovation project undertaken by Zhongnan Steel Structure has been successfully completed according to the construction plan and passed the completion acceptance smoothly.

Baita Airport completed a perfect transformation before the 2021 Spring Festival, welcoming guests from all over with a brand new look. The current Baita Airport is expected to have an annual passenger throughput of 18 million and a cargo and mail throughput of 210000 tons. At the same time, it also serves as the main and alternate airport for Beijing to divert international flights during the epidemic period, which will greatly alleviate the pressure on Beijing and Hohhot airports and undertake a heavier historical mission.
