Hohhot East Hub Station is one of the 45 main hub stations planned by the Ministry of Transport. The total investment is 575 million yuan, with a total construction area of 26912 square meters, including 15745 square meters above ground and 11167 square meters underground. The total height of the building is 22.100 meters, with one underground floor and two above ground floors. It has a longitudinal length of 168 meters and a transverse width of 126.8 meters. The design aims to achieve a daily throughput of 20000 passengers by 2023, carrying basic service functions such as transportation services, transportation organization, transfer and interchange, multimodal transportation, communication information and services, vehicle maintenance, and auxiliary services. It will also form a comprehensive service system that meets the needs of travelers, including food, accommodation, transportation, leisure, commerce, business, office, and information networks. It will become a landmark building of Hohhot's urban gateway, with both modern architectural style and ethnic cultural characteristics. The building is shaped like an "eagle about to take off", perfectly reflecting the design theme of "grassland eagle, spreading its wings and soaring", symbolizing the takeoff of Hohhot's transportation industry.
The main steel structure of this project is equipped with 9 side leg shuttle shaped steel tube concrete composite arches. The overall roof structure consists of 9 shuttle shaped main arches, 8 herringbone roof truss arches, and 2 cantilever structures. In the construction of the project, the management team of Zhongnan Steel Structure overcame a series of difficulties such as tight installation schedule, complex construction technology, high quality control requirements, and difficult safety guarantee. They fully applied the company's research and development achievements and patents, as well as the top ten new technologies in the construction industry. Through the "QC" group activities, they developed a practical patent for the "post weld bending test and inspection instrument for bolts". The paper "Construction Technology of a Arched Steel Tube Concrete Composite Roof Structure" they wrote was accepted in the Chinese core journal "Steel Structure", and the invention patent for "Anti collision Construction Method of Assembly Construction Platform Column Replacement Fixture and Its Crossing Tension Rope" has been applied for and accepted. The application and research and development of various technologies have laid the foundation for the smooth completion of the project
Hohhot East Hub Station was completed in December 2015 and passed the final acceptance inspection. Due to its excellent quality, it has received unanimous praise from the owner, supervisor, and inspection experts, won the Zhejiang Province Steel Structure Diamond Award, and was recommended by experts to apply for the China Steel Structure Quality Engineering Gold Award.
