It is reported that on August 7, the National Steel Structure Designers Alliance will be established in Beijing. On the eve of its establishment, this reporter came to the Preparatory Office of the Alliance and interviewed relevant experts of the Preparatory Group. The relevant person in charge of the alliance introduced that the National Steel Structure Designers Alliance (English abbreviation: NSSDA) is a national non-profit technical alliance voluntarily formed by researchers engaged in steel structure, steel and wood structure, structure and related professional designers and engaged in steel structure manufacturing and installation, software development, equipment production, related supporting products and other steel structure industry chain.
The relevant person in charge said that the purpose of the establishment of the alliance is to integrate superior resources, use the principle of design priority, and widely establish exchanges and communication and interaction between upstream and downstream designers of the steel structure industry chain such as raw material production enterprises, steel structure processing and installation enterprises, design enterprises and civil engineering and construction students in colleges and universities, increase mutual understanding and promote mutual cooperation. Promote the combination of design with materials and practice, promote the improvement of steel structure design and the application of new products and technologies. Through communication and interaction, designers continue to increase their knowledge, so as to better grasp the essence of design from the overall concept, from design to process continuous improvement, the good design concept and good materials strong combination, for the steel structure industry innovation and development to provide the driving force. The members of the alliance should be professional designers of steel structures, steel and wood structures, and structures for five years or more or chief engineers of steel structure and related industries, with professional titles of senior engineer or above, or civil engineering and construction students in colleges and universities. Members are mainly individuals, and do not accept unit group members. Neither the Union nor the Committee collects contributions.
The reporter learned that in recent years, China's building steel structure has developed rapidly, and a number of steel structure buildings with international standards have appeared, such as Bird's Nest, Water Cube, National Centre for the Performing Arts, CCTV New Building, Shanghai Global Center, Guangzhou TV Tower. These projects have greatly improved the design level of China's steel structure. Some projects independently designed by China have reached a new level, such as the 361-meter span oblique arch saddle-shaped grid shell - Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, 122 meters cable bearing grid shell - Jinan Olympic Sports Center and other projects, are all good works with novel architectural schemes, reasonable structural forces, saving steel, and in line with China's national conditions. But it should also be noted that some major projects are basically designed by foreign countries, and the structural schemes of many of them are not reasonable enough, the amount of steel used is too large, the cost is amazing, and it is not in line with China's national conditions. In the face of a large number of projects, China's current design system, design concept, design level, design quality, and designer quality are far from adaptable, and there are still many problems to be solved urgently.
Relevant experts believe that the establishment of the National Steel Structure Designers Alliance will promote steel structure design to a certain extent, especially in the promotion and application of new technologies and new products. The personnel of the preparatory group appealed through reporters to hope that more steel structure designers across the country would join in and jointly promote the development of steel structure.
