Recently, the overall steel structure upgrade of the Guangzhou Design City Design Hall project undertaken by Zhongnan Green Construction Group has been successfully completed.

The design hall project is located in the Guangzhou Design City Park, Helong Street, Baiyun District, Guangzhou, with a building height of 31 meters, a total of 6 floors, and a total construction area of 26610 square meters. It was carefully designed by He Jingtang, an academician of the CAE Member, leading the design team. The exterior design of the design hall is simple and elegant, with a rich internal layout, highlighting the weight and core position of the design hall in the park, and extensively utilizing the advantages of steel structure overhead suspension, which is full of high-tech elements of the new era; As a large-scale comprehensive venue, the project mainly has four basic functions: cultural exhibition, conference venue, report performance theater, and cultural education. The total investment is about 489 million yuan. After completion, it will become an extremely prominent landmark building in the Guangzhou Design Capital Park.


As the main construction unit of the steel structure of the Design Palace project, Zhongnan Green Construction Group has established a construction team with strong technical strength and rich installation experience based on the characteristics of the project. Adhering to the concept of building high-quality products and providing excellent services, the construction planning is carefully planned, and the entire process management and construction are strictly and scientifically carried out. The project team closely cooperated with various units during the construction operation, and with the joint efforts of all units, it took only 59 days to complete the reinforcement and backfilling of the steel structure before the overall lifting, as well as the assembly and welding of steel columns, beams and other components, and weld seam testing, ensuring the timely progress of the overall lifting work.


The design hall adopts a truss+frame structure form, with 4 core tubes as supports. The installation is extremely complex, with a large amount of welding and high requirements. The steel structure weighs more than 1300 tons as a whole. In the overall lifting operation, the construction team uses four core tubes as support points and 16 hydraulic lifters to synchronously and slowly lift the work. Due to the need for synchronous force application, the operation of 16 elevators is crucial. In the overall improvement process, each team followed orders to work, and the technical personnel of the project department cooperated, supervised, and reported the lifting height data from all aspects and time periods according to the unified command of the overall commander. The surveyor monitored the overall plane and lifting height throughout the entire time period to ensure that the overall plane remained consistent during the lifting process. After 5 hours, the four story steel structure was successfully lifted to the set position, and the main body of the steel structure was successfully capped, creating a good situation for the subsequent progress of the project.

After the successful installation of the steel structure main body of the Design Hall project, subsequent construction by various units has been fully carried out, and the project will be completed and put into use by the end of 2022. The successful overall improvement of the steel structure in the design hall is another demonstration of the innovative technology of Zhongnan Green Construction Group in the construction of multi story steel structures. The application of this operation mode enables other construction operations and steel structure installation operations to be carried out simultaneously, avoiding the various adverse effects caused by the interweaving of various construction units and significantly reducing the high-altitude assembly operations, greatly shortening the project duration, and creating a successful case for the construction of similar projects with tight schedules and short construction periods in the future.
