Overall improvement of steel structures in the distribution area and south pier
The Haikou Xinhai Roll on/Roll off Terminal Passenger Transport Comprehensive Hub Project, undertaken by Zhongnan Green Construction, is a key project in Hainan Province. It is another iconic large-scale spatial steel structure project undertaken by Zhongnan Steel Structure in Haikou City, Hainan Province. The project started construction on June 15, 2021, and after 157 days of careful construction, the overall steel structure of the distribution area and the south pier was upgraded on September 28 and October 22, respectively. It has now entered the comprehensive sprint stage.

This project is located in Xiuying District, Haikou City, Hainan Province. The steel structure engineering includes the construction of the south pier, north pier, central area, distribution area, and curtain wall steel structure. The roof steel structure of the project adopts an orthogonal oblique spatial grid structure+truss structure form, and the nodes of the grid structure adopt welded ball nodes. The truss structure adopts a cantilever structure at the edge of the roof and a truss structure for the skylight in the central area. The aerial view of the hub station has a T-shaped appearance, with a total construction area of approximately 59000 square meters and a total steel consumption of over 4500 tons. The hub station is divided into four major areas based on expansion joints, with a building area of over 4800 square meters in the distribution area, approximately 8000 square meters in the south and north finger galleries, and over 38000 square meters in the central area. Due to the large number of welded ball nodes and members used in steel roof trusses, the welding workload is high, and the welding accuracy requirements are high. In order to reduce high-altitude operations, lower safety risks, and improve construction efficiency, the project department carefully organized and scientifically arranged, adopting the construction method of "low altitude scattered assembly of rod and ball members+overall lifting in zones", effectively ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.

During the lifting construction of the main steel structure in the distribution area and the south corridor, the project management team and construction personnel were full of the spirit of "nothing is impossible, and all difficulties will be overcome" and the courage to fight. They overcame the difficulties brought by the high temperature season, several strong typhoons, rainstorm weather, and made arduous efforts for the smooth implementation of the project. Due to the fact that this project is a key provincial project, it has received attention from leaders at all levels and other parties during the implementation process. When the main body of the steel roof in the distribution area was lifted, leaders from relevant units such as the owner, design institute, general contractor, and supervisor visited the site for full observation, and media such as Sansha TV and New Hainan followed up and reported on it.
